God's Control not gun control!

by Rev. John Stephen Brown B.R.E., Pastor

Immediately following the Littleton, Colorado killing rampage in the Columbine High School, these two questions were raised and repeatedly asked: How could this happen? How could it have been prevented? Read on for the answers.

Although the focus of the media is now upon the fear of guns, shootings, and the deaths that have once again occurred within a pagan sanctuary, otherwise known as a public school. This fear is misplaced, however. Parents are nevertheless justified for their rapidly growing fear. But it should be fear of the very centers of so called learning themselves where "death education" is underwritten with property taxes, which is the stealing of the resources from the people in order to support an anti-god, anti-Christ agenda that fosters the choice of killing an unwanted baby, the elimination of an ailing patient etc.

Gun Control - interpreted as gun confiscation - has replaced God's control as our country's credo. "One nation under God" wisely says our pledge of allegiance, which incidentally is no longer recited in the public schools, which have obviously become government dens of destruction. Now the clarion call by both the secular humanist as well as the religious humanist who idly names the name of Christ, is "One nation under Gun control!" Heard chiming in with this weird choir is the soft spoken, feminized preachers who are as much at fault for the assault upon America's liberty as anyone else. Their silence regarding God's will regarding the topic of providing for one's own is deafening. In that it adds to our nation's evils.

Since in America many have persistently turned their backs upon God and HIS Laws, self control has all but been totally vanished in this former glorious land. Accountability - responsibility - has been replaced with a common practice of excusing one's self while accusing others - blame-shifting; it has been encouraged and now it is firmly installed. It's the gun manufacture's fault, we are repeatedly told by those mundane, murmuring, media mouths. When a people - any people - apathetically ignores and eventually abandons God and HIS Law, that equates open apostasy, then the frightful consequences are whirlwind storms of anarchy that soon erupts upon the land in the wake of such a delusive calm of apathy.

Forget not all God's benefits counsels the Holy Spirit in the sacred Scripture. The advantages of God are innumerable; far too many to be listed in this brief statement. Suffice to say here and now that of the countless blessings bestowed upon America, God's wonderful grace is vital.

As the lyrics of the song America the Beautiful that once echoed through the halls of schools as children sang in their class rooms - rather than being shot dead as they are today. It was a way for Americans to insure that their young hearts be strengthened during their primary learning days and that their impressionable minds be taught of God's grace, which serves as a source of self control.

The first and second stanzas of the chorus to America the Beautiful soothingly reminded young and old alike: "America! America! God shed HIS grace upon thee ... America! America! God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self control, Thy liberty in Law."

Misguided preachers are as much to blame for America's current state of affairs, because they have elevated God's love at the expense of HIS Law. The holy attributes of the Sovereign LORD, God Almighty have been grossly distortedly and fervently presented to gullible congregations who now will not have Jesus reign over them. They, too, have deserted Christ, in that, they have earnestly sought and found another lord. Their new lord also gives, not benefits, but privileges in the form of a 501(C) (3) not for profit, tax exemption status. They are so very proud of their new position with its prestige in the community. These modernists, so called preachers, like the statist of Jesus' day, for all practical purposes eagerly cry: we have no king but Caesar! Hence, their naive followers are deprived of God's sure method of self control which is HIS grace.

Why? The answer to that question, as well as to any one of life's many questions, is found in the only reliable, unchanging, dependable standard graciously given unto man from Almighty God. The Bible emphatically says that God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Would it not be prudent my fellow Americans, therefore, in light of the growing menace in our culture to humble ourselves before God, the King of glory and seek HIS ways as plainly outlined in HIS Holy Word? Neighbor, the solution to America's current plight is not in more gun control; America's only solution to her dilemma is more of God's control! God's grace is sufficient! Beloved, will you again hear and obediently heed the sage counsel of that grand old song many of us sang as children, as earlier mentioned? Let us even now submit ourselves unto God and "Confirm thy soul in self control, Thy liberty in Law."

May God be glorified in each of our lives!

Sincerely,

Pastor Brown
