A Book review by Pastor Brown on
Revelation Four Views A Parallel Commentary
Edited by Steve Gregg

Oh, saint of God are you mystified by the final book of the New Testament? Many students of the Bible are. Have you been intimidated by the dogmatism of some speakers only to discover later great gaps in their interpretations? Have you labored long and hard over its meaning only to resign yourself that it's sense is beyond your limited capacity to comprehend? Have you become diffident as a teacher or preacher when speaking from the book of Revelation and have thus shied away from proclaiming this portion of the God's counsel? Then Revelation Four Views A Parallel Commentary might help the diligent servant of God. It is the one tool, dear saint of God, you need to procure for your own personal understanding, as well as the people God has entrusted to your watch-care ministry.

This volume well serves the community of saints at large, as would a specialized tool in the skilled hands of a mechanic. By perusing the views (conveniently in one volume) of men holding postions different than one's own, it will lend itself to the unity of the faith, it is truly believed by this reviewer and Pastor. The early believers received commendation because they diligently studied the Word of God (Acts 17:11). May this work be in the humble hands of God's choicest servants, and become useful as an aid to their understanding into the grand book of Revelation, as well as the varied points of view of our predecessors.

Ignorance fuels superstitions. Misunderstanding breeds resentments. There is something to be said regarding the sectarian spirit, but without the scurrilous attitudes so often displayed. Such is a telltale mark, oft times, of rank carnality. When we read in the Scripture that we are to "earnestly contend for the faith" it does not mean, dear brethren, to be of a contentious, malicious disposition towards those of another perspective.

Understanding is certainly achieved by the dedicated diligent disciple of our LORD Jesus Christ through careful, prayerful, faithful research. Revelation Four Views A Parallel Commentary serves as an additional instrument in the hands of any aspiring student of the Holy Writ or dutiful Pastor's library. Insight is sure to be gained also by the casual reader even from sections explaining portions altogether neglected or abandoned in frustration. This commentary

sets forth in a parallel fashion the four traditional views held throughout the Church era. Revelation Four Views A Parallel Commentary a 528 page book is published by Thomas Nelson Publishers copyrighted 1997 by Steve Gregg. and sells for 29.95. It may be purchased through America Vision. Brethren, there is coming a day in which we shall all agree. Until then - until that day when "... we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" (Eph 4:13) may this labour of love be blessed by the Holy Spirit's illuminating ministry in each of our individual lives to enhancement our knowledge of God's will as presented in His climatic book of Revelation and may it hasten the day when we shall know as we are known.
