Welcome this February 20, 2000 20002C

The Eternal Grace Baptist Church is a historical,

particular, unregistered, Baptist Assembly of the conviction that Christ's Victory is valid in time upon earth as well as in Heaven throughout all eternity.

"Love" has been February's theme, as we have used this acrostic:

Living Our Victory Enthusiastically! We have learned that God is the both the object and source of Love (Rom 5:5). We love God only as we love those around us (1 John 5:1-4). Fickle feelings are not the means by which one evaluates if he is loving God or another person, it is assessed by the objective standard - God's Word. That - and only that - determines whether one is, in fact, expressing love as is appears in the Bible. Jesus said, "By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." John 13:35 These expressions of love for the brethren, as stated last week, are within the context of service. Our LORD states "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them." John 13:17

Here are some traits of a true, Biblically defined, love: A person with these characteristics will be patient, kind, not envious, nor a proud boaster, not smugly conceited; the conduct in both word and deed is consistent with Christ; there is not a self centeredness, nor is one easily provoked; this one is not consumed with evil thinking. This one rejoices not in injustice, but rejoices in truth. Such an one assists others in their burdens, and is not skeptical of the brethren; this one has an optimist expectation, and remains faithful during hard times. What passage of Scripture defines this kind of love?
